Solar water pump can be used in private houses, cottages, villages, medical clinics, etc. The pump can be powered by its own photovoltaic array or by the main system that powers the system. Elevated storage tanks can be used, or a second pump called booster pump can provide the necessary water pressure. Or the main battery system could provide storage instead of a tank.

Some ranchers use solar water pumps to distribute pipes for several kilometers (more than 5 kilometers). Others use portable systems and move them from one source to another.

It is most economical to store the water in a tank and then distribute the pump by gravity flow. Where pressurization is required, the battery can stabilize the voltage to maintain consistent flow and distribution, and eliminate the need for a storage tank. But batteries also introduce cost, complexity, and additional maintenance.
